Readers of our book will have admired this peculiar and extremely rare species as being the depth-record-holder for the Pacific, where a specimen was found as deep as 1000 m in the Marquesas. Most specimens available come from tangle nets off more than 150 m. This beautiful little jewel was collected by my friend Raoul at only 55 m on a small unidentified type of black coral, At Punta Engano, Mactan, PI. Note the fantastic dark colour and the rostrate, twisted terminals (it measures 10 mm)
