Dear Dr. Felix Lorenz,
I noticed on your website that you are using the genus Archivolva for the species Archivolva clava instead of Dentiovula (as Habe (1991) originally descibed this species in). Can you please inform me on the literature where the genus Archivolva is described? Or the motivation why a new genus name is preferred?
Best wishes,
Bastian |

Dear Bastian
the genus Archivolva is introduced in our book "The Living Ovulidae". The species of Archivolva have a morphological peculiarity that is quite unique in Ovulidae: the spire is situated posteriorly, like in cowries, so that even in the adult shell the protoconch remains visible, sometimes it remains exposed. This feature, along with other morphological features, and according to DNA analysis, place Archivolva in an isolate position somewhere in the proximity of Dentiovula, but not within that group.
Kind regards
Felix. |

Dear Felix,
Thank you for your swift reply. Is the molecular data already published? I would be very much interested to have the reference. Thank you!
